Prayer Power

Jr. Girls camp is over and everyone from our church made it back safely! Praise the Lord!!
But the camp year is not over, today was the beginning of Family Camp #1 and there are a few things you could pray for! Such as:

* The full time and part time staff.

These people will be working with families and people of all ages
24/7 for the next week
and will need our prayers to keep healthy and strong as they strive
to serve the Lord together.
Pastor Scott Owen is also up at camp this week leading music.

* The speaker, Greg White.

Pray that his messages will be of God and that God will work through
Mr. White to reach people for the Gospel of Christ,
and to convict the Christians to serve God.

* Pastor Dave, Pastor Phil and Aaron Hart.

These men are very much leaders in this camp. Pray that God will
give them wisdom and peace as they work for Him this week.
Pray also that they will be able to answer questions effectively to
the understanding of the campers, and that through them God might
bring lost souls to Him.

* The Camping Families.

Pray that they will have a fun and relaxing week under the direction
of God's Word.

And this doesn't just mean we have to physically be together, as long as we are praying. God works wonders through prayer.

Let Us Pray!

Yahoo! Jr. Boys camp is over and the brothers have come home! :) Jr. Girls camp is June 22-27. Let's remember to pray for their safety as they ride up there, grow in Christ, and come back!
We also have to capability to pray for the staff. -Remember the staff works just as hard as anyone, and our prayers work wonders!

Water and Work Week 2009

Okay, now that I posted the pictures, I'll post about the actual week. It was very fun, though we had to work very, very hard. Let me explain how it worked:
When you got there, you had to recite Philippians 1:27-30 and get checked in, then you were assigned a random cabin with people you don't know. After that you move into your cabin, you go to the chapel, where they talk about rules, what they expect of you and your group.
Each person was assigned to a group of about seven people. You met your group every day after breakfast and started working. MY favorite thing we worked on was shoveling gravel and sand up and down Snake Hill for three hours and forty-five minutes. And I was barefoot too. It was awesomeness.
Anyway, a normal day would go basically like this:
6:15: Wake up
6:30: Get dressed, make bed
7:00: Personal devos
7:30: Breakfast
8:00: Work
11:30: Lunch
12:00: Work
5:00: Supper
5:30: Work
7:30 or 7:45: Service
After Chapel: games and activities
10:00: Dorm devos
10:30 or 10:45: lights out

So that is pretty much how the schedule was all week. You do a lot of working but at camp work=fun. I hope you people that can come next year will. You won't regret it!!
The services were good too. They were all pertaining to the theme Together. The verses we had to memorize each day and recite at the end of the week were:

They are good verses!! You should read em'!! Well that's all I've got to say for now. BYE!!!

Jenna reminded me today that the last time time I posted on my blog was May eleventh. But instead of posting there, I'm over here xD

Reading what ... erm, Potato posted, I was reminded of what I've been reading in my devotions.
I don't even know why it reminded me of if. Maybe because she said that even though she was having some troubles in her basement and was dead beat on the way to camp, she said she had a tremendous peace. Then later on, she mentioned that she had learned something from each message.
Yeah, those two words: peace and learn. -nods- That made me think of this verse.

Because contentment comes from God. It comes from a relationship with him...
And it grows through a learning process. I figured that if Potato mentioned her peace, I could say that even though she felt at peace then, not everything is strawberries and whipped cream. Learning about this in my devotions in stressful because I try really hard to feel content. A lot of the times I manage it, but contentment is a learning process. Paul said it himself:

...for I have LEARNED to be content...

So while reading how our ninja potato had felt so at peace in the most stress filled hours might have been somewhat discouraging, it reminds us that...
Contentment comes from God and that contentment is a learning process.

Okay, that's all I have to say. I just wanted... to elaborate on Potato's peace with what I've been up to in my devos. -shrug-

_TOGETHER_

This week I was really impressed, just to see how God works. On Sunday my family got hit by the outer edge of the tornado/storm thing, and our basement flooded -to say the ___very_ least. Dad, Mom, DJ, and Jacob all went outside, and started bucketing window wells, trying to get water out of them, while I stayed inside desperately trying to dry carpet in three rooms that were scattered across the house. Not a very promising chore.
While this was going on, it was very tempting just to ask God 'why'. I would be leaving in a couple hours to water and work week up at camp, and Mom, DJ and Jacob would have to clean, dry, and un-mildew carpets while Dad was at work, and I was at camp. Quite frankly I would have been completely open to skipping camp to stay home and work. Unfortunately that wasn't an option.
But through out the storm, God gave me this since of peace that I didn't -couldn't- understand. I started singing, and praising Him, and I didn't really know why. It was at that moment, when it just completely hit how unworthy I am to pray to God every day, to know Him, love Him, and even hold God's word in my hand! I was astounded at that thought, because I had never pondered that. Have you? Just do it right now, and then I'll go on...

The storm moved on rather quickly, and after a rather long night, I finally got to sleep -at 2:00 am. Needless to say I was very tired the next day; but even then, God gave me peace. The whole way to camp I was praying. Praying for my parents, praying for the house, praying for my dog, my friends, my own stupidity, praying that God would remind me of my own insignificance as I was working, and praying that He would show me something through the messages each night.
And you know what? He did. Every single night. This year camps theme is together. How we have to work together, trust each other, lean on each other. But to me, they all showed just how important God is in my day to day life. How he's not only my crutch, but my bed, my cast, my doctor, my nurse, and my whole entire hospital -every single day! And then on Wed. He showed me things that I had thought I had given up to Him that I was really trying to hide -even from myself.
And that's when the together theme really hit home. Because right in the middle of the serves, I started crying. And not only did Joy pull me aside and talk to me, I talked to Jenna, Anna, Kari, and several others who I knew really cared. God provided for me that night, because that night and on Friday I just really was able to pour my heart out to those people -people who care. They care to pray for you, they care to laugh with you, cry with you, help guide you, and to just sit there in silence. :) Some of them even joy basketball. God showed me just how important it is to work together -with Him and with others. And He showed me there are people who care, even when you feel no one can understand. Because He does.

Monday morning, all teens who are planning on going to Water and Work Week at IRBC (Iowa Regular Baptist Camp) and need a ride, may meet at the church around 6:30-7:00am. Tim Reger is taking a van up to camp, and plans to stay later to give rides back. :) THANKS TIM!!!
